PT Engineering developed a simulation study in TransModeler for two interrelated projects in Mooresville, Iredell County. The study included the development of the 2015 Base Year No-Build analysis, 2040 Future Year No-Build for two scenarios and the 2040 Future Year Build for two alternatives. The study included 21 intersections and three interchanges along I-77 including the I-77 Express Lanes. The study was a pilot project for utilizing StreetLight, Inc. origin-destination data for the development of the O-D matrices for the study. The study included the implementation of dynamic traffic assignment to distribute trips between I-77 and the parallel corridors. The preferred design included multi-lane and turbo roundabouts to more efficiently distribute traffic throughout the network without substantially increasing the typical section of the approach roadways.
