PT Engineering developed a microscopic simulation study of a system interchange in TransModeler. The goal of the study was to evaluate the weaving operations between the I-26/I-240 interchange and the Patton Avenue interchange for a new interchange alternative, Alternative 4C. Alternative 4C was developed by Peter Trencansky, while employed by URS Corporation, an alternative that would reduce the overall cost and impacts of this highly controversial project. The simulation was developed to determine if the distance between the interchanges was adequate to serve the projected traffic volumes.
